CORE’s team INTERVIEW: Ekaterina Dureva, PM of .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Hi, Katya! You have so many interests in life. We don’t know from where to start. Please, tell us about yourself and your favorite activities.

Ekaterina Dureva: Hello, yes I can definitely confirm I like to be committed, to go to bed at night assured that I’ve done something that day.

The thing that can be said I am most committed in my free time is the philosophy. I am member of the International Organization New Acropolis. There we have wonderful lectures about the world (topics about international cultures and traditions) and about ourselves (topics such as developing attention, memory, creativity). The part I like the most is the implementation of these lessons into the real life, for example we help children deprived of parental care. Not to mention how much fun is and how we are more committed when we all work together for the same cause.

I love to dance salsa, go to the theater, opera, cinema .. the usual stuff.

I adore the moments when I am in the nature, though I rarely have time for this. I am a mountain child, born and raised high in the mountains and of course it attracts me. During the summer I make at least one peak climbing and during the winter I love skiing downhill on the slopes.

Oh, it seems that I have a lot of free time (laughter), but actually there isn’t. I think that one comes to ask for anything can either find time. It is important to have an organization, plan and rhythm.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: How long do you work for CORE? How does it happened that so young lady decided to engage in the domain business?

Ekaterina Dureva: Quite by accident, two years ago I started working for the CORE. After finishing my Masters of International Project Management I wanted to get a job where I could take the advantage of the lessons learned. But my work in CORE even surprised my expectations as it combines my Master and Bachelor degrees (Computer Systems and Technologies).

I see that in the world of domain names more women find their place and I’m very happy about it. The IT sector isn’t anymore only for men.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: You are a Project Manager for the Cyrillic domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН, so you know them better than everybody else - tell us some spicy stories about this Project of CORE.

Ekaterina Dureva: I will never forget when all the media blew with curious news: “The Chinese are entering the world of Cyrillic”. Actually, when journalists were seeking information on the new domains, they saw that CORE, the registry of these two Cyrillic domains, is from “ch”, which is the abbreviation of Switzerland, but they confuse it and though it means “China”. Well, it is certain that the Chinese characters are far from the Cyrillic alphabet

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: How do you envision the future of the domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН?

Ekaterina Dureva: .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН are not just Cyrillic domains. With them, we want to contribute generally to the development of Cyrillic on the Internet. Nations as the Chinese and Arabs have been long since used their own alphabets online. Unfortunately, the statistics show growing examples in Bulgaria (where I live) of making spelling mistakes, mostly because we handle online entirely using Latin characters. I myself have written until recently on the Internet, Bulgarian words with Latin letters. But the Latin does not support many of our letters.

Over 360 million people worldwide use Cyrillic! Let us unite together to awaken the Cyrillic alphabet on the Internet. A good start would be more and more people to create the names of their own sites on their own language using Cyrillic with .САЙТ or .ОНЛАЙН in the end. I know that there are a lot of companies operating with the international market, but it did not interfere with the services and products targeted at the local market - to create pages with Cyrillic domain, which then will be remembered more easily by the end user and wonderful for an offline advertising.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: We know you have your own blog in one of Cyrillic domains. Please, tell us more about it.

Ekaterina Dureva: In one way or another I do have to write - articles, essays, comments.. often when is happening something to me to start having in mind how I would describe the experience. So I decided to create “вдъхновена.онлайн“ (trans. “inspired.online” and still in launch period). It is be a place, where I share all those moments when something astonishing has touched me.

Following the words of my favorite teacher Mrs. Delia Steinberg Guzman: “Life is full of opportunities, but if your eyes are closed, you will not find them.” I am trying to not only see, but also to share the good thins. Beauty is everywhere around us and how wonderful it is that we can help each other in seeing it.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: You have to travel a lot for work. Which country impressed the most?

Ekaterina Dureva: I’m very happy for the opportunity to travel. I visited various countries, stepped on other continents. But do not forget that these are business travels and therefore handling time is quite limited. I like to walk without rushing and to see - how the people live there, to see their faces, how they talk to each other; usually I go in the local shop and buy local drink/ food… this is enough. I tried to take as an example the Chinese order, the Spanish energy, the Brazilian smiles and casualty.. and a lot more.

And from where is my best memory? The musical fountains in Barcelona (Montjuic Magic Fountain)! We were on a meeting with the colleagues from all offices of CORE. During the evening right after the dinner we came by the fountains. It was evening of classical music that I generally love to listen. It was a magical moment for my senses - feeling the spray of the water, seeing the game of the colors, water and steam on the background of night city and the sounds of Mozart, Vivaldi, Beethoven …

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains:What would you wish to yourself, CORE and  the Cyrillic Domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН?

Ekaterina Dureva: To myself: I wish more and more inspiration and energy using which to charge and help to the people!
To CORE: To keep maintaining this strong and fighting spirit plus success with the current and future projects! I hope that more companies will find CORE as its partner because the larger the number of the members of one association, the more they can help each other .. well, I’m not saying that we are small now, but why not to want more.
And of course, the best part is at the end: to .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН I wish to achieve their goal and really be able to contribute to the Internet in our own tongue!
