INTERVIEW CORE’s team: Roger Gamper

6 years already on the CORE’s secretariat e-mail is responding Roger Gamper. See how he “charges his batteries” to be so polite and full of energy.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Hi Roger, do you run on a lot of marathons? What it brings you?

Roger Gamper: I participate in about 25 races per year, but mainly half marathons and trail runs. I like running because it makes me feel good and healthy. You can do it all year long and everywhere. It makes you sleep better and you can run your stress away.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Congratulations for your graduation. Was it difficult to study and to work in the same time?

Roger Gamper: Thank you! Yes it is difficult, but feasible. It especially was difficult these months to try to keep up to date with all the new gTLDs

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains:In fact, how you started to work for CORE and when?

Roger Gamper: I had started to work in the domain industry in 2003 and was working for PSINet Europe until 2006. The biggest part of PSINet Europe was then sold to Interoute. I started to do work for CORE in 2008, to be precise for CORE-79 who had been doing the CORE secretariat.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: You know that, two of the new domains of CORE are .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН. What is your opinion about them.

Roger Gamper: .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН are pioneers in Cyrillic IDN domains. The IDN markets have huge potential, especially in Cyrillic. However, it also depends at some point on third parties like internet browsers and search engines who are not always ready for non ASCII characters.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: What would you wish to yourself, CORE and the Cyrillic Domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН?
