CORE’s team INTERVIEW: Alexandre Oulevey

Alex has been working for CORE Association since 2004. His hobbies include rock-climbing and canyoneering. See more about his life and what strengthened his conviction that IDNs cannot be excluded from Latin’s:

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: Hi Alex, could you please describe yourself in 3 sentences?

Alexandre Oulevey: I would describe myself by using the term “down-to-earth”. I enjoy most of my life spending time with my family, friends and colleagues at work. Every moment is different, but unique. And “cherry on the cake”, I have the privilege to work with different people and colleagues worldwide who bring me a lot of new ways of thinking, acting or working, on a daily basis.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: We’ve heard that you are passionate about rock-climbing and also that you go on a regular bases to the gym. How do you think the sport contributes to your life?

Alexandre Oulevey: Basically doing fitness is more a way to release the pressure during the working days and maintain a certain equilibrium in order to boost my well-being and to stay mentally healthy.
Hiking, rock-climbing and canyoneering are definitely hobbies that I’ve been practising for more than 20 years; it gets me closer to my passion for nature, challenges and adventures!

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: You work for CORE for a long time ago. What is your role in it?

Alexandre Oulevey: I’ve had a few roles for over a decade Between 2001 and 2004, before working officially for CORE, I started developing small applications for the CORE Secretariat’s needs in the context of Axone. Since 2004, I have been working for CORE Association as an operation’s manager, but my role has become more and more focused on the administration of our IT structure and network since a couple of years.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: As a person who knows a language different from Latin one (Armenian), please tell us, what do you think about the IDNs? Is there a real need of them?

Alexandre Oulevey: Yes definitely, my different origins and cultures, as inculcated by my mother towards her Armenian, Russian and Persian alphabets’ knowledge, strengthen my conviction that IDNs cannot be excluded from Latin’s and that both need to be run hand in hand in the Domain Name Industry.

.САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН domains: What do you think would be the perspectives of the Cyrillic domains .САЙТ and .ОНЛАЙН?

Alexandre Oulevey: I have absolutely no doubt about their potential to become famous and successful TLDs as long as they are easily and correctly understood by the public.

Alexandre Oulevey: I wish them a bright and long future in which the personal and generous involvement of each of us will be able to grow to their full potential!
